What Phoenix Fitness is All About!
Having been active in sports my whole life I had not fully grasped the connection between overall well being and a high level of active fitness. I'm talking about those endorphins that make you feel giddy and content and ready to play some more as soon as possible. It wasn't until I had put myself in a depressed state, being totally unhappy with my work and life choices that I started to find out how beneficial all that exercise was.
After the passing of my mom I became depressed and couldn't bounce back from it. After a grief counseling session I was put on an anti-depressant but taking that drug did not help me at all. Meanwhile my spouse was putting in ductwork for a gym in Markham and a problem occurred which resulted in Mike being offered 12 personal training sessions, which he passed on to me. I did my sessions with the trainer and more on my own. Within 90 days I had transformed into a toned strong woman who no longer needed a pill to function. All I needed was just hard exercise for perhaps six to eight hours a week and lots of time at the gym. That was the way up and out of my depression. As soon as possible, I started to work towards becoming a certified personal trainer and I established Phoenix Fitness.
My desire for all people is that they experience the benefits of an individualized exercise program combined with proper diet to promote wellness in mind, body and spirit. Our bodies are designed to move and exercise and I want to encourage you do this in as many forms as possible. Explore all avenues such as biking or swimming. Paddle a boat or learn how to dance. Sign up for a new form of yoga. Walk and explore all the hiking trails in your area. Join a bird watching club. Learn to hip-hop dance. Try golf!
Just keep on moving. If you move every day for at least 30 minutes your body and mind will love you for your efforts. Exhaust your body so that you sleep well at night and eat well at meal times. Treat yourself like you would a new baby with proper feeding times and adequate sleep and stress relief. That is what Phoenix Fitness is all about. We want to help you become a stronger, healthier, more confident you!
